As a Product Marketing Manager focused on media subscriptions, you will lead efforts to grow and retain subscribers by leveraging your expertise in digital marketing, data analysis, and customer engagement. This role requires a strong grasp of the digital media landscape, consumer behavior, and subscription-based business models. You will collaborate across teams to shape how potential and existing subscribers perceive the brand, ensuring a seamless and valuable customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Market Intelligence
    • Conduct in-depth research on trends in media consumption, subscriber preferences, and competitor strategies.
    • Identify opportunities to differentiate the subscription offering in a competitive market.
  2. Product Positioning and Messaging
    • Develop targeted messaging tailored to various audience segments to drive engagement and subscriptions.
    • Highlight the value of the subscription product through compelling campaigns.
  3. Go-to-Market Strategy
    • Lead cross-functional efforts to launch marketing initiatives, working closely with the editorial team to optimize content and the product team to ensure smooth onboarding.
    • Plan and execute subscription-focused campaigns across multiple channels.
  4. Content Development
    • Oversee the creation of impactful marketing materials, including email newsletters, social media content, and digital ads.
    • Educate potential subscribers on the publication’s unique value and quality.
  5. Newsletter and Email Marketing
    • Design and execute email marketing strategies to engage leads and convert them into subscribers.
    • Use tools like Mailchimp to create automated workflows, track performance, and optimize campaigns.
  6. Social Media Management
    • Develop and manage subscription-driven social media campaigns to enhance visibility and engagement.
    • Utilize analytics to align social media efforts with subscription growth goals.
  7. Performance Tracking and Analysis
    • Monitor and analyze subscription performance metrics, including acquisition, retention, and churn rates.
    • Leverage data insights to refine strategies and achieve key business goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in product marketing, digital marketing, or a related field, preferably in a media or subscription-based business.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in email marketing tools like Mailchimp, including automation and analytics.
    • Advanced understanding of social media management for subscription-driven campaigns.
    • Experience with tools for performance tracking and analytics (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Knowledge:
    • Deep understanding of subscription-based business models, including lifecycle management and pricing strategies.
    • Familiarity with audience segmentation, campaign optimization, and retention strategies.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with editorial, product, and sales teams.
    • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities to craft impactful messages.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make strategic decisions.
